The Opportunity
To assume responsibility for the overall implementation of Multi –state projects in Sudan country program. This involves working through the thematic program managers, Thematic Specialists as well as member’s Technical Assistants. Core responsibilities include contribution to the development of relevant projects that meet the need of the beneficiaries, timely implementation of approved projects within time, with quality and within budget. Ensuring that ongoing programs are continuously monitoring using the quality benchmarks and working with the program managers, technical specialists and awards to ensure that quality reports are developed and shared with the members on time. The role is also responsible for the direct line management of thematic program managers. He/she will have functional line management with field-based Head of Implementations and, programme managers and Technical specialists. The effective program management will play a key role in the expansion of Save the Children programmes in Sudan to increase impact and enable positive change for children.
In order to be successful, you will bring/have:
Essential
- Minimum 5years practical experience managing a large programme in a complex emergency as well development context, with a particular focus on [education, child protection, child right governance, health, nutrition, WASH, livelihoods and COVID19 response], in large international non-governmental organisation or other international relief/development body;
- University degree in a relevant academic discipline;
- Experience of managing the programme cycle, including assessments, project design, proposal and report writing, implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
- Excellent planning, coordination, and reporting skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities;
- Highly developed research, analytical, monitoring and evaluation, and report-writing abilities;
- Sound financial management skills, particularly in budgeting and reporting;
- Practical knowledge of current thematic issues and debates in developing countries, and of the major institutional donors such as EU, DFID and UN agencies;
- Computer literacy, particularly in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Strong communication, people management and interpersonal skills in English, with experience in leading multicultural, multi-location, values driven teams;
- Willingness to work and travel in often difficult and insecure environments;
- Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in
- Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
- Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
