The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the Head of Business Planning and Strategic Initiatives at any existing Save the Children nternational office location.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Resource Mobilisation, Communications and Engagement (RMCE) function is responsible for among other things: working with the wider Save the Children Movement to develop its funding strategy; providing targeted support to Members, Country Offices and Markets to help realise high priority funding opportunities; portfolio development; capability and capacity building; improving fundraising data and analytics to support data-driven decision-making; and increasing supporter engagement. The function comprises several teams including: The Global Fundraising and Marketing Hub, which supports private fundraising work; the Global Programme Funding and Institutional Partnerships team, which supports institutional fundraising and partnerships work; and the Global Communications and Engagement team.

As part of the development of Save the Children’s 2022-24 Global Strategy, RMCE has delivered an ambitious project (known as the Global Funding Framework) to identify how we can resource our strategy. RMCE has also delivered initiatives to identify, among other things, how Save the Children can increase brand recognition and increase supporter engagement in support of both our fundraising and advocacy / campaigns objectives. Following this programme of work, RMCE has identified its key priorities for the 2022-24 strategic period, and it has set ambitious targets in relation to them.

This role will report to the Director for Resource Mobilisation, Communications and Engagement (RMCE) and will support the Senior Management Team in delivering RMCE’s key priorities including by managing functional planning, tracking / reporting, and stakeholder engagement. It will also support the Director in driving and project managing critical strategic initiatives on behalf of the team across the organization. These will include the 2022-24 Global Strategy and Global Funding Framework, as well as others with significant interdependencies with other SCI or Member functions.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • A track record of successful project management (including planning, monitoring, reporting and implementation experience) in a complex organisation
  • Strong analytical skills, including a proven ability to analyse marketing and financial data and produce effective management information
  • Results-oriented, with an ability to adapt to changing circumstances whilst maintaining a focus on the end goal
  • Proactivity, self-motivation, and drive
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, including an ability to overcome obstacles to cooperation, forge consensus and drive action
  • A proven ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholder groups at all levels
  • A collaborative approach
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Demonstrated ability to act independently and take on challenges willingly
  • Commitment to Save the Children values

Desirable

  • Experience working in a global function that supports INGO Members / National Offices

We can offer circa £60,000 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply.

This role can be based in any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
