Vento di Terra (VdT) is an Italian NGO active in Jordan since 2014 and currently working in the sectors of protection, education and health in Mafraq and Amman. VdT is currently looking for a trainer on the rights of people with disabilities and social inclusion for 125 among people with disabilities and their caregivers to insert in its protection program starting from January 2021 (tbc).
Start of the contract: January 2021 (tbc)
Duration: 2,5 months (approx. 8 weeks)
Location: East Amman (Hashmi al Shamali + Jabal al Qusur)
Main responsibilities and tasks
• Hold 8 cycles of 3 sessions each on the rights of people with disability, the importance of social inclusion and services available in the area for at least 125 people with disabilities and their caregivers;
• Tailor the content and modalities of the sessions to the needs of people with disability ad their cargivers (light and medium disabilities only);
• Ensure that each session is planned and delivered in a highly participative and interactive manner and responsive to participants’ requests and suggestions;
• Prepare and share with VdT an outline of the material to be used during the cycles, including the content of each session;
• Keep record of participants’ presence to each session with the support of VdT staff;
• Prepare one preliminary questionnaire at the beginning of each cycle and one final questionnaire at the end of each cycle and verify participants’ achievements and progress;
• Coordinate with the relevant staff for the smooth implementation of the training (logistics, programs, etc.);
• Liaise with the relevant staff for the referral of cases that may need other services.
Requirements
Professional requirements
• BA in social science or any related field;
• At least 1 year of experience working with people with disabilities;
• Excellent knowledge of the rights of people with disabilities;
• Previous experience as a trainer, better if in the field of protection/people with disabilities;
• Knowledge of protection principles and capacity of recognising/listening to beneficiaries’ needs;
• Knowledge of the English language is an advantage
Personal skills
• Excellent communication and interaction skills, notably with people with disabilities and their caregivers;
• Engaging, motivated and passionate about his/her work;
• Preferably has a driving licence and can guarantee movements between the two locations.
