Cufa has been developing community access to affordable financial services in the Asia Pacific region for nearly 50 years, working cooperatively at grass-roots through to government levels, building capacity in emerging financial cooperative movements to create sustainability, improve lives, and relieve poverty.

Cufa is seeking a Myanmar National for Communications and Social Accountability Expert for a 4.5 year project to be based in EITHER Ayeyarwady Region, Chin State, Sagaing State (North), Sagaing State (South) OR Thanintharyi Region.

Assigned Tasks:

This role is responsible for increasing awareness on the Project by means of plans and advocacy strategies, building support among different stakeholders through various avenues of communications, increase public awareness on the program; and ensuring immediate action and resolution of grievances in the project.

The officer will be responsible for:

  • Develop and implement the Project communications plan to increase public awareness and build support for Project among the program’s multiple stakeholders at the township, village tract and village levels
  • Produce materials intended for stakeholders and partners that will provide updated information on Project activities
  • Produce stories with accompanying photos
  • Prepare quarterly implementation report and communications materials
  • Write and package development stories, news articles, features stories, and other information materials for public information purposes
  • Utilize various outlets (i.e., print, TV, radio, and internet) to promote the gains of the project to increase public awareness of the program by way of production of news articles, features stories, press releases, events, and other information materials and activities
  • Conceptualize, develop, and/or outsource the production of IEC materials for the project and ensure that these are relevant, of high quality, and disseminated to intended users
  • Maintain the grievance database
  • Prepare regular consolidated reports on status of grievances received and acted upon
  • Help in establishing the grievance handling mechanism, including distribution of grievance information material
  • Assist in data gathering, validation, and documentation of findings as part of grievance resolution
  • Monitor and follow up the actions and resolution of pending grievances; and
  • Feedback actions and resolution of pending grievances.

Selection criteria:

  • Degree in Information Management, Communication or other relevant disciplines
  • At least 5 years of experience in communication and marketing
  • Preferably having experience on development or poverty reduction projects
  • Preferably having experience on donor-financed projects.
