The Survivor of Trafficking Empowerment Program (STEP) Case Manager provides intensive case management services to all survivors of human trafficking. The STEP Case Manager coordinates social services within an extensive referral network and individually devised service plan. The STEP Case Manager works in collaboration with program staff and supervisor to cultivate a victim-centered and trauma-informed approach to social service provision.

The STEP Case Manager works with a small team in the Rio Grande Valley. This position is focused on providing services for clients residing in Hidalgo and Cameron counties. The Area Director provides supervision onsite to the case manager. This position does not require 24/7 on-call.

Case Management:

  • Provide intensive case management services to pre-certified and certified survivors of human trafficking and domestic survivors. Case management services include: Intake, eligibility assessment, development of individualized service plans, assessment of eligibility for external public or community based programs, shelter/housing, medical care, dental care, mental health referrals, interpreter/translator services, substance abuse treatment referrals, HHS/OFF certification processing, victim advocacy and coordination with the FBI, ICE, and USAO, all other appropriate referrals to address employment, transportation, life skills training, and legal services
  • Maintain regular and as required communication with the STEP Program Supervisor
  • Ensure quality provision of services through thorough case notation, case file management, case supervision, and the completion of reports in a timely manner
  • Advocate on behalf of survivors of human trafficking with various entities and stakeholders
  • Manage cash and in-kind donations from the community and guarantee efficient, documented distribution to clients
  • Represent the agency by attending meetings, conducting presentations, and managing public relations duties
  • Conduct and assist with trainings and outreach activities to various community service providers, law enforcement, and immigrant organizations
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other service providers and community partners in the area
  • Actively participate in local trafficking coalition meetings
  • Participate in trainings as requested
  • Maintain client confidentiality and abide by all agency policies
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by the Area Director

Documentation:

  • Document all service provision and client interaction from identification through case closure
  • Maintain a thorough representation of services in the case file
  • Maintain client confidentiality

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the referral network and maintain communicative and functional relationships
  • Assist partner agency conducting outreach and awareness as necessary
