Part-time Communication Manager – London with flexibility

Experience / Training

We are looking for a highly skilled and enthusiastic Communications Manager to join our team and lead RTE’s communication activities.

This is a new position and a key role, and the successful candidate will have proven experience in communication. It will be essential for the candidate to be committed to human rights, particularly the right to education.

Aside from sharing our values, we are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a multicultural environment and who is happy to take on new tasks and support the team when needed.

We will provide the candidate with the opportunity to work as part of a small team of dedicated and passionate people and the real opportunity to shape the growth of the organization.

In addition to an expert, we are looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

Education & qualifications

  • Graduate and/or postgraduate degree in relevant fields, including journalism, political sciences, communications, human rights, or development and/or relevant experience in these fields.
  • Substantial experience in communications or related fields.

Essential knowledge

Required

  • Good understanding of the international human rights context.
  • Familiarity with civil society activism and advocacy, including rights-based approaches.
  • Good understanding of the global communication landscape and technics
  • Interest in and understanding of new developments in visual imaging and multimedia.

Desired

  • Familiarity with international human rights law, education and development issues, or related

Know-how 

Required

  • Experience using Content Management Systems, web editing software packages, and other emerging technologies.
  • Experience of using social media platforms and the role/utility of social media for a small human rights organisation.
  • Experience of creating and promoting social media content tailored for different channels, as well as monitoring and responding to comments.
  • Experience of writing and building emails tailored to relevant audiences.
  • Strong written communications skills, in particular an ability to translate dense and technical information into easy to understand and accessible content.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills. A keen eye for detail.
  • Fluency in English and one or more of either French, Spanish, or Arabic.
  • Working to tight deadlines.

Desired

  • Experience handling media and communications for  human rights or social justice organisations.
  • Confident editing html.
  • Experience of working with multiple language media and media in different contexts.
  • Web development expertise.
  • Experience in digital marketing.
  • Experience in making videos

Salairy

£35,000 – £39,000 per year for London-based reference (prorated  £21,000 to £23,400)
