About CIVICUS
CIVICUS exists to defend people power. As a growing global alliance of over 7000 members in 175 countries, we work together to monitor violations of basic civic freedoms, call out the perpetrators of violations and strengthen the power of people to organise by supporting a more accountable, effective and innovative civil society. We strive to promote excluded voices, especially from the Global South.
About the Role
Building upon a successful 2.5 year pilot phase, the Resilient Roots initiative is working to promote and enhance CSO accountability with a larger, more diverse group of organisations and actors across the CIVICUS alliance, in an attempt to see accountability to our communities and staff become a core, cross-cutting and continuous practice for organisations around the world, irrespective of their size, approach or context. We are primarily doing this by integrating constituent accountability policies and practices – that is, things that produce greater levels of organisational responsiveness, respect and trust – into existing CIVICUS teams, projects and member communities.
The Constituent Accountability Project Officer will develop and implement the Resilient Roots (RR) project work plan, working closely with the Data for Accountability Programme Coordinator (D4APC), the I&A cluster, and colleagues from other relevant clusters. This includes working with clusters to identify and experiment with new constituent accountability practices, or to enhance existing ones, and leading collaborative efforts to develop organisation-wide policies related to this topic. It also includes engaging wider audiences to promote improved understanding and uptake of constituent accountability approaches. All efforts will draw heavily upon the lessons learned and tools produced during the previous phase of the RR initiative.
