Summary of position:
Under the supervision of the Deputy Management and Consular Officer, operates the central telephone switchboard serving all programs of the mission; provides general information to visitors on the Consular, Cultural and Immigration Programs; controls physical access to the Chancery and provides a front-line security system; and performs other duties.

 

Essential qualifications:
Education:
High school degree or equivalent combination of experience, qualification and/or training

Language:
Excellent command of both English and Arabic (oral and written).

Experience:
• Minimum 2 years recent* experience working in an office environment
• Minimum 2 years recent* experience dealing with the public on the phone and/or in person.
*Recent is defined as 2 years within the last 5 years.

• General office software including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:

• Experience working for an embassy or an international organization
• Fluency in French (written & oral)

Operational Requirements:
• Must be willing to work irregular hours and overtime, be available on call outside normal business hours

 

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Applicants must hold a valid working authorization covering the period of employment. If the employment is of an indeterminate nature, or becomes indeterminate, then the work authorization should be permanent or lead by itself to permanent work authorization. The Canadian Government cannot sponsor a candidate to obtain work authorization documents.
• Obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance (security clearance). The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to Medical Clearance and Reliability Check (RC) obtained by the Administration and Security sections of the Embassy
