To support the International Office Region CEE/CIS/ME (IOR EUCM) with this important responsibility we are now looking for a committed:
Emergency Response Advisor – CEE/CIS/Middle East (EUCM) (f/m)
Location: Vienna, Austria
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Build capacity and working practices in regional and national structures to deliver timely, relevant and quality emergency response (ER) programmes
- Provide technical and operational support to national SOS organisations in initiating, planning, implementing and evaluating ER projects
- Monitor quality and compliance of ER programmes carried out by national SOS organisations either through monitoring visits or through assigning internal/external monitors/evaluators
- Contribute own experience and expertise to the development and implementation of SOS’ international internal standards, guidelines and policies.
- Lead and guide the regional implementation of security management, including ensuring relevant up-to-date risk assessments for high risk locations and advising the regional crisis management team
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Disaster Management, Humanitarian Emergencies or other related field
- Minimum seven years of experience in humanitarian assistance context and/or work in the area of disaster management with focus on conflict sensitivity, post-conflict development and displacement, preferably with a strong focus on Child Protection in Humanitarian Action
- Minimum of five years of work experience in countries of the EUCM region with at least one country from the Middle East
- Minimum three years of experience relevant to Project Cycle Management including project planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting.
- Experience on the use and contextualisation of humanitarian standards and principles such as The Sphere, Child Protection Minimum Standards, LEGS, INEE
- Experience in planning, management and evaluation of emergency response programmes, particularly child-focused programmes
- Competent in organizing, planning and problem solving
- Competent in effective communication and cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders, strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written English language skills, Russian and Arabic languages desirable but not essential
- Ability and readiness to travel at least 30% of working time
