Project Assistant (PA) – Infectious Disease, Tropical Medicine

Starting date: January 2021.

The general objective of CRESCER Project is to contribute to the transfer of evidence and knowledge about the effectiveness of different specific and nutrition-sensitive actions in the context of the Angolan crisis during and after the Covid-19 pandemic, to contain malnutrition and reduce child mortality under five in the provinces of Huíla and Cunene.

CRESCER Project aims to determine, through operational research and innovation, the impact of various equitable and scalable, specific and sensitive to nutrition strategies, in reducing malnutrition and mortality of children less than 5 years. To this end, the progress and implementation of FRESAN’s multisectoral strategies and projects will be evaluated, as well as their relevance, adequacy, coverage, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability and scalability that may be the basis for recommendations on future scalable interventions in reducing the indicators of chronic malnutrition in children under 5 years of age.

The PA will give technical support to the International Project Coordinator (IPC) in the responsibility for the harmonious and timely development of all project activities to ensure that the results and milestones are effectively achieved and that the criteria for their assessment are met. It will contribute in ensuring that the project is carried out according to the project plan (time, cost, scope and quality) and produce the scientific reports and management.

Specific Objectives:

• Carry out and monitor the project activities of the Clinical Trial.
• Update of the Logical Framework of the Project and corrective activities.
• Continuous contact with the international project coordinator.
• Active participation on the different activities of the project.
• Monitoring of the costs of the different partners with the assigned budget.

Profile of candidate:

Education and qualifications:

• Graduate in Health Science
• Experience required: at least two years of combined national and international experience in the fields of cooperation, malnutrition, Clinical Trials or public health.
• Preferred: Graduated in Medicine and Surgery or a professional career strongly focused on infectious and tropical diseases, cooperation and public health.

Skills:

• Good adaptation to teamwork, cordiality, communication and respect.
• Mature judgment, strong technical, analytical and conceptual skills; demonstrated ability to assess, analyze, synthesize and provide recommendations on key technical issues;
• Ability to manage multiple issues and tasks in a complex organizational environment;

Labour conditions:

• The PA will be based in in Angola (provinces of Cunene and Huíla).
• Full-time position (40h/week).
• Length of the contract: until end of the project.
• Gross annual salary: 31.000 euros.
• Accommodation costs included with 1 annual flight, 23 days of vacation and 7 days of personal affairs.
