Nutrition and Livelihoods Officer

The Bishop Gassis Relief and Rescue Foundation (BGRRF) initially with its Main Office in Nairobi, Kenya and currently transitioning to Turalei in Twic County – South Sudan has grown out of the pastoral services, and humanitarian and development programmes implemented through the Diocese of El Obeid (DoE), in Sudan and South Sudan.

The Foundation (BGRRF), in close collaboration with the Diocese of El Obeid is responding to the needs in the Nuba Mountains of South Kordofan and in Twic state in South Sudan and Abyei with humanitarian, development and pastoral programme.

The Main purpose of the Role

The Nutrition and Livelihoods Officer will be responsible in addressing nutrition and health related issues to the community in Nuba Mountains. She/he will demonstrate nutrition behavioral change as a means of addressing cases of malnutrition.

She/he will therefore be responsible to support the running of activities by conducting training on key nutritional messages to households and communities in Nuba.

The Person Specification

• A degree in nutrition other relevant disciplines with 2-3 years’ experience.
• Experienced nutritionist with a background in implementing livelihoods.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, at all levels as well as the ability to report to and advise the Program Manager on emerging issues.
• People management skills.
• Able to work on own initiative with a creative approach to problem-solving.
• Community conflict resolution skills.
• Knowledge of the local language is an added advantage.
• S/he must be willing to be based in the field and work closely with beneficiary communities.
