The British Embassy in Copenhagen is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to hire a Security Officer.

As part of the Security Team, you will support the overall objective to ensure the Compound remains a safe and secure working environment. With a common-sense approach, you will be a strong team player who is able to think on their feet and be able to follow standard operating procedures.  

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Routine patrols;

  • Monitor CCTV;

  • Assess, and respond to, any potential security threat against the Embassy or members of its staff and visitors and report the details to the Security Manager;

  • Identify visitors and contractors and issue them with security passes maintaining an accurate record of all visitors and contractors who have entered the premises;

  • Personal searches for visitors and contractors prior to entry; including escorting whilst they are on the premises;

  • Vehicle/Personnel security searches;

  • Carry out security scans on incoming mail and parcels;

  • Some driving duties;

  • Maintain issued equipment;

  • Overtime related to official Events outside of normal shift.

  • Security Background with experience of CCTV systems with at least 1-2 years of security experience (Police/Military or other);

  • Valid driving licence;

  • Basic IT skills;

  • Good working knowledge of written and spoken English/Danish (B2 Level)*.

  • Good Customer Services skills;

  • Strong team player.

  • Knowledge of CCTV systems;

  • First aid skills;

  • Experience in crisis management;

  • Basic knowledge of fire-fighting;

  • Conflict management skills.

This is a full-time permanent contract of 35 hours net per week.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.

The successful candidate must have pre-existing work authorisation for Denmark in order to apply.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Copenhagen are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Danish employment law.

Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Denmark and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Additional requirements may become necessary after 31st December 2020.
