The British Embassy, Israel has a vacancy for the position of Temporary Digital Manager and Media Advisor (Maternity Leave Cover), Grade – A2 (L).

Overview of the role:

An exciting opportunity to join the British Embassy’s Communications team, playing a leading role in organising and delivering an ambitious programme of public events; assist in implementing the Embassy’s communications strategy, and maintain primary responsibility for the Embassy’s digital presence. The individual will be responsible for securing high-profile coverage and public exposure of Embassy activities and will report directly to the Head of Communications.

This is a Maternity leave cover position, therefore temporary.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Generating Digital assets and content including designing, shooting and editing; showcasing and boosting the Embassy’s brand awareness.
  • Creating and maintaining an active presence on various social-media platforms (lead).
  • Dealing with enquiries from followers and British nationals on social-media channels.
  • Actively promoting coverage of Embassy activities, while initiating opportunities for press coverage and planning media activity.
  • Leading the planning of events of all scales, mainly focusing on soft-power opportunities.
  • Additional tasks as required, including monitoring the Israeli media and writing regular press roundups; swift and accurate translation from Hebrew to English and English to Hebrew.

Essential:

  • Fluency in English and Hebrew (excellent reading, writing and speaking).
  • Proficiency in filming and editing content.
  • Proficiency in graphic design platforms and programmes.
  • Proficiency in managing social media (at least two years’ experience).
  • At least two years’ experience working with digital and mainstream media in a PR company, or other related communications positions.
  • Creativity, flexibility and excellent communications skills.
  • Proven organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well as a part of a team.
  • Excellent IT skills, including the ability to quickly learn new programmes.
  • Experience with website management/design or marketing.
  • Motivation and enthusiasm to work as part of a small, agile, ambitious team.

Desirable:

  • BA/equivalent preferred (preferably in communications or related field).
  • An overview of UK-Israel relations and awareness of the role of the British Embassy in delivering UK objectives.
  • Proven experience in managing medium-large scale events.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including the non-negotiable salary of NIS 11,139 per month plus transport allowance. The successful candidate will be on a one-month probationary period.  Parking facilities are not provided or paid for by the embassy.

This is a Full Time, Maternity Cover position for six (6) months starting mid-February 2021, with a possibility of short extension.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00-16:00 and Friday 8:00-13:30 – total of 37.5 weekly hours. Office is based in Tel Aviv.

Combination of office and remote working is available subject to work priorities. All flexible working patterns to be agreed with line manager.

Eligibility

If you are selected for this position, we will be able to employ you as long as you:

  • Receive the appropriate level of security clearance;
  • Candidates must be able to work legally in Israel.
