Civitas Maxima (CM) coordinates a network of national and international lawyers and investigators who work for the interest of victims of international crimes. It operates in situations where no legal action to bring the perpetrators to justice has been successful and works in close partnership with the Global Justice and Research Project (GJRP) based in Monrovia. CM represents victims of war crimes and crimes against humanity from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast.

CM was registered in September 2012 as an association in Geneva, Switzerland, and is recognized by the Swiss authorities as a not-for-profit organization. CM is an equal opportunity employer.

Position: Permanent contract, 40%

Duties:

CM is seeking an Accounting Assistant. Under the responsibility of CM Geneva Director, and under the direct supervision of the finance and administration manager, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Provide general ledger maintenance and posting journal entries**
  • Process payments and transfers, respond to suppliers enquiries
  • Reconcile and process staff expenses reimbursements and travel expense reports
  • Provide support in payroll administration
  • Assist in month-end close
  • Provide support during annual audit
  • Assist ongoing efforts to improve processes and make operations more efficient
  • Maintain complete files of financial records and ensure documents are properly organized
  • Assist in budget preparation
  • Assist in financial grant tracking
  • Understand workflows between teams and coordinate follow-ups with other teams as appropriate
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required

Experience Requirements:

· University degree in accounting or equivalent

· Broad understanding of Swiss accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations is an advantage

· Excellent knowledge on Excel and WinEUR is a must

· Excellent written and communication skills

· French native speaker or equivalent, fluency in written and spoken English
