himaya is a specialized NGO in the child protection sector, working to prevent violence against children and offer the support needed for abused children on a psychosocial and legal level; eventually allowing them to be reintegrated as productive and active members of society.

Job Summary:

In charge of directing and managing the Capacity Building Research & Development department

Main Tasks:

§ Represent himaya within his/her field of expertise

§ Attend all technical meetings with partners and brief the operational director on the outcomes

§ Elaborate necessary documents introducing his/her department or promoting his/her activities in coordination with the communications department

§ Create new contacts with relevant stakeholders that can be of an added-value to himaya

§ Set the yearly CBRD action plan and budget depending on the CBRD strategy and himaya strategic plan and share it with the team after the approval of the OD

§ Develop and implement a yearly internal training plan for operational teams when applicable

§ Update the CBRD action plan monthly and send it to the OD

§ Define and delegate tasks per member based on specialization and background and follow-up on the work progress

§ Approve the quarterly action plan of the team members

§ Conduct bi-monthly meetings with the CBRD team to share information

§ Identify the needs in recruitment within the CBRD Department

§ Ensure a regular evaluation with the CBRD team and conduct performance appraisal

§ Conduct end of contract interview in case of termination from the manager’s side

§ Approve training material content (including training plan, agenda, tools etc.) and make sure the content of external and internal trainings are aligned with himaya’s goals and objectives

§ Approve all content related to Child Protection Policies in institutions (as per the guidelines provided by the CBRD Department)

§ Approve all scientific content to be shared with other departments

§ Work on scientific publications and partnerships with researchers

§ Communicate with other program and department managers to coordinate joint activities

§ Approve expenditures related to the department based on the approved budget

§ Report on a monthly basis to the OD and PM regarding progress of activities related to himaya and to the projects

Educational Background and Skills Required:

§ Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work or other relevant degree

§ 5-7 years of relevant CP field experience with children and/or their families

§ Demonstrated knowledge about child protection (national and international legal framework, Standard Operating Procedures for the Protection of Juveniles in Lebanon, case management, child development)

§ Ability to stay updated on best practices, current research, new developments and trends in CP

§ 3-5 years of experience in delivering training sessions, workshops and TOT’s to professionals such as: teachers, NGO staff, security forces and municipality police officers

§ Confidence speaking to groups of various sizes, primarily in training situations

§ Strong writing skills (writing reports, training manuals, curriculums etc.)

§ Management experience in a team-oriented workplace preferred

§ Strong communication and interpersonal skills

§ Ability to manage and motivate a team

§ Ability to work well under pressure and variable conditions, as both an individual contributor and within a team environment

§ Ability to adapt to fast paced, high change environments and difficult situations

§ Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently in order to meet deadlines

§ Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)

§ Ability to fulfill responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner

§ Fluent in Arabic and English (French is preferred but not required)
