Panagora seeks a Business Development Director will have experience in all aspects of business development for contracts with USAID and, preferably, other USG agencies and international donors. The director will lead market analysis and business development planning; ensure Panagora prepares for priority opportunities; play a leadership role on many proposals; ensure sound business development processes and systems; and may serve as Director of IDIQs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Leading development and execution of Panagora’s business development strategy and operational plan, in close coordination with Panagora leadership, and reporting progress in fulfilling the plans
- Conducting market analysis to identify trends in opportunities, Panagora’s current market, its competitors, and areas for growth, monitoring USAID and other donor priorities and funding trends
- Overseeing all proposal capture efforts; in some cases, leading capture for specific opportunities; maintaining an opportunities pipeline that reflects Panagora’s technical strengths; and ensuring resources are assigned to pursue all priority opportunities
- Maintaining collaborative relationships and regular contact with potential partners
- Leading proposal development, often for multiple opportunities at one time; this can include making strategic decisions on partnering, staffing, and costing, as well as writing major sections of proposals and reviewing inputs, including the cost proposal
- Working collaboratively with multiple internal teams at the capture and proposal stages
- Ensuring sound business development systems, processes, and templates; updating these as needed; and mentoring staff in their use
- Representing the company to potential clients and partners and in industry events
Requirements
- Master’s degree in business development or relevant field
- 10 or more years of experience in business development in international development field is required
- Demonstrated track record of leading winning proposal efforts, including proven ability to lead proposal process – including both the technical and cost proposals – and proposal writing skills for USAID and other donors, and in-depth knowledge of business development best practices
- Excellent writing, interpersonal communication, and oral presentation skills
- Strong time management skills; ability to multi-task under tight deadlines
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity; entrepreneurial, problem-solver, and decisive
- Proven capability to establish and maintain a wide array of professional relationships and networks, including with the client, key partners, and other industry actors
- Experience in global health, monitoring, and evaluation, communications/knowledge management/learning, or other fields of international development strongly preferred
- Experience living and working in a developing country preferred
- Proficiency in one or more foreign languages preferred
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
