Chemonics seeks an implementation science research consultant for the USAID/PEPFAR-funded Nigeria Strategic HIV/AIDS Response Program (SHARP) Task Orders One (TO 01) & Three (TO 03). The programs implement accelerated scale-up of interventions and cost-effective innovations to improve access to and quality of HIV/AIDS and TB service delivery, while strengthening the national health system, working in Kebbi, Kwara, Niger, Sokoto, Zamfara, Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Jigawa, Kano, and Yobe states. The programs aim to support HIV testing services, HIV diagnosis and treatment, HIV care and support, prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT), tuberculosis/HIV service integration, reproductive health/HIV integration, orphans and vulnerable children, laboratory services, and health systems strengthening. The SHARP TO 01 & 03 projects will be conducting three studies in FY21 to aid policymakers and program planners to make decisions on which HIV service delivery interventions and innovations represent best value and should be considered for scale-up. The three study areas are as follows:
- Cost-effectiveness of differentiated service delivery models for ART refill influencing viral suppression during Covid-19
- Impact of MMD on Viral Suppression outcomes
- Viral suppression outcomes and patterns among pediatric patients
The implementation science research consultant will support Chemonics International and the Nigeria SHARP technical teams prepare for and conduct the three studies. Given COVID-19 related travel restrictions, this assignment will initially be conducted remotely. However, if and when it is safe to travel to study sites, short-term technical assistance visits may be required up to 30 percent of total LOE. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Design and develop three research protocols and necessary data collection tools in collaboration with the technical team at Chemonics home and field offices and other research consultants working on one or more of these studies
- Submit final protocol and other documents for required local and US IRBs
- Ensure investigator CV and Human Subjects Protection trainings are current and on file
- Maintain electronic filing and file maintenance of regulatory documents on Chemonics project shared drive
- Support implementation of research studies in collaboration with the in-country and US-based technical teams
- Ensure adherence to study and IRB standards
- Problem solve and address issues arising during implementation of the study and data collection
- Manage research data and conduct data cleaning
- Support quantitative and qualitative data collection, data entry, and data analysis
- Support dissemination of research findings through the preparation of presentations, reports, and manuscripts
- Lead study closure activities, including report writing and documentation
Qualifications:
- Masters or post graduate degree in public health, epidemiology, or biostatistics
- Minimum of five years’ proven experience conducting operations research or implementation science in low- and middle-income countries
- Experience in quantitative analysis using STATA and other software
- Proven qualitative research skills
- Ability to work with diverse teams and across different time zones
- Excellent communication, oral, and written skills are required
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in English
Duration of Assignment: Approximately 8 months, with a total of 150 days of LOE
