How can you make a difference?

The Programme Section, UNICEF Thailand Country Office (TCO) is seeking applications to a roster for individual consultants to support the “Programme Effectiveness, Corporate Sector Engagement” area as a part of the Better Business for Children (BB4C) Initiative. The consultant will coordinate and collaborate directly with private sector actors and programme teams within UNICEF, and act as a knowledge hub to carry out research, conduct data analysis and provide technical guidance and support for UNICEF to infuse children’s rights into business sustainability agenda.

Work Assignment:

To support Better Business for Children initiatives, he/she will provide support in conducting research/ developing concept note/ suggesting insights to enable private sector contribution to UNICEF Thailand. As Governed by Children’s Rights and Business Principles, the consultant will perform tasks in the following areas:

  • Workplace: Anti-child labor, family-friendly policy and practices, employability and Generation Unlimited
  • Marketplace: product safety and advertisement, healthy food environment
  • Community and Environment: innovative finance/ economics research; public finance; Corporate Sector Engagement, business and human rights; behavioral economics /corporate sustainability

 

Work Schedule:

This is a call for consultants to be placed on the Roster valid for 2 years. Work schedules will be agreed with hiring manager.

 

End Product: 

  • Proposal, proposed methodology, final report and communication materials related to children’s rights and business, focusing on topics including but not limited to: innovative finance, economic research in the areas of labor, public finance, behavioral economics, corporate sustainability, CSR for Programme Effectiveness, Corporate Sector Engagement, business and human rights and the promotion of youth employability; Analysis on sustainability-related standards, regulations, ratings
  • Policy briefs on corporate sustainability and children’s rights
  • Reports regarding the business case for supporting child rights such as social return on investment/ social valuation on CSR projects
  • Successful project management results, including demonstrated success in supporting achievement of UNICEF and implementing partner project goals, as reflected in project reports, corporate reporting, etc.
  • Other publications/presentations

 

Estimated Duration of Contract:  This is a call for consultants to be placed on the Roster. The duration of contract and necessary official travel will be upon agreement with hiring manager.

 

Qualifications or Specialized Knowledge/Experience:

  1. An advanced university degree (master) in Business Management; Economics, Development Science, Social Science; Public Relations; Corporate Sustainable Development, Environmental Management, Human Rights; or relevant fields. A first university degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of master degree;
  2. Have demonstratable relevant work experience of at least 3 years.  The following fields could be considered based on work assignment: Social Return on Investment, corporate sustainability, Human Rights and Business, public and private partnership development, public finance, labour economics, corporate strategy, marketing and communications, business development and education research social sciences;
  3. Able to work independently with minimal supervision;
  4. Fluency in English is required.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
