Online internship opportunity with the Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor – Production team

Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor (“the Monitor”) provides research and monitoring for the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) and the Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC). The Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor is a joint initiative of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines – Cluster Munition Coalition (ICBL-CMC) and provides the most up-to-date and relevant information on and assessment of the international community’s response to the problems caused by landmines, cluster munitions, and other explosive remnants of war.
The Monitor is currently looking for an intern to provide support to a small and dynamic production team.
Internship description – tasks may include:
- Fact checking, copy-editing, proofreading research products submitted by editorial teams;
- Searching and collecting pictures for the Monitor research publications;
- Assisting in liaising with vendors/ service providers in the context of the Monitor report productions (i.e. designers, printer, translators, etc);
- Drafting content for the Monitor newsletter;
- Assisting in updating the Monitor website with updated information as relevant;
- Assisting in promoting the Monitor research through social media (Twitter);
- Assisting in the organization of the release of the Monitor annual reports (press launch, campaigners and delegates briefings) as well as in setting up the Monitor booth at international conferences.
Desired qualifications:
- Strong writing and editing skills and good attention to detail;
- Self-motivated, creative, curious, dynamic, and well organized;
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, other languages would be an asset;
- Strong computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required;
- Excellent and proven communication and interpersonal skills with prior experience in a multicultural setting would be a plus;
- A demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with staff and other stakeholders.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this internship, one of the following situations must apply:
- Be enrolled in a course of study leading to a degree or professional qualification;
- Having recently complete a first degree (e.g. Bachelor’s), or planning to undertake an advance degree (e.g. Master’s) on condition that the university awarding the degree attests the relevance and usefulness of the internship;
- Internships can also be pursued with the aim of assisting the intern’s social or professional reintegration, under the oversight of the cantonal or federal-level authorities.
Applicants should also count with financial support from their university or grant/scholarship for the purpose of the internship, and be a citizen of European Union (EU) or European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member countries.
Conditions
Unfortunately, the Monitor is not in a position to offer any financial remuneration to interns. All interns are responsible for all expenses and costs incurred in undertaking an internship with the ICBL-CMC, including travel and health insurance. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this is a remote internship.
