Under the overall supervision of the Project Development Officer (PDO) and direct supervision of the Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Assistant, the incumbent will provide support in the implementation of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Strategy of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Canberra, with particular focus on developing and implementing Knowledge Management and collaboration initiatives for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. The recently developed Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy aims to improve IOM’s performance in the Pacific, in large part via ensuring improved collaboration and knowledge sharing. IOM has a wide range of aid projects and country offices across the Pacific, and this Strategy will help to facilitate improved collaboration and learning at a regional level.
The internship will suit someone wanting to build skills in knowledge management, international collaboration, and mutual capacity building with colleagues. There will also be opportunity to learn more about how UN organisations function, aid project reporting, and evaluation of aid projects.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
· Contribute to knowledge management systems for IOM across the Pacific, support knowledge sharing and capacity building activities;
· Contribute to the development and updating of a consolidated work plan and M&E Strategy for IOM projects in Australia and the Pacific;
· Attend internal meetings related to operational areas of IOM’s activities;
· Maintain online data and knowledge management files and folders related to IOM Canberra PSU activities;
· Assist to review and contribute to donor reporting documents, evaluation plans, and evaluation reports;
· Undertake any other relevant tasks that may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Undergraduate or Postgraduate Studies in Monitoring and Evaluation, Political or Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Relations, ICT, Communications, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
Experience
· Experience in using SharePoint and Microsoft Office 365
· Excellent writing, presentation, facilitation and analytical skills
· High aptitude in data collection and maintenance
· Tactful communicator, able to build and maintain relationships as a team member
· Strong cultural awareness; able to work effectively in multi-cultural environments
Languages
Fluency in English is required
