We are looking for a volunteer teacher to deliver Greek classes for beginner-level A0 & A1. This is an incredible opportunity to provide refugees and asylum seekers with life-changing skills, supporting them to integrate into their communities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of or passion for the context we work in. We need someone with the ability and enthusiasm to use teaching methods that engage students and encourage them to be motivated self-learners.

Responsibilities:

  • Use appropriate teaching methods to respond to varying student learning styles
  • Provide appropriate means to assess student progress and provide timely feedback
  • Create new materials, including audio and visual resources
  • Organize and get involved in social and cultural activities
  • Motivate students
  • Have knowledge of the organization and program policies and procedures

Skills/Requirements:

  • Native / Fluent Greek required
  • Excellent classroom teaching and communication skills
  • Creative skills and ideas for planning practical and interesting lessons
  • Ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic, multi-level classroom
  • Demonstrated commitment to student learning
  • Great grammar knowledge and excellent speaking and writing skills
  • Cultural sensitivity, tolerance, and patience
  • Experience delivering educational activities to vulnerable populations is a strong advantage
  • Interested and aligned with SPI’s mission

Working Hours:

  • Average 10 hours/week
