Deputy chief of party | Sri Lanka and Maldives | 2021

Chemonics seeks a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP)/Maldives for the anticipated USAID Climate Change Adaptation Activity in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The project aims to enhance the adaptive capacities of the public and private sectors and local communities in the Maldives and Sri Lanka to climate change impacts in ways that contribute to sustained, inclusive market-based growth. This position will be based in the Maldives. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the Chief of Party in providing leadership in the management and technical implementation of the program and ensure successful achievement of results as defined in the award
  • Ensure project compliance with all contractual and administrative requirements, with support from home office and operations/finance team
  • Identify and mitigate risks to the project, Chemonics, and client
  • Act as the chief of party (COP) when s/he is absent from the program

Qualifications:

  • A degree in environmental science, climate change adaptation, international development, business administration, or a relevant field
  • Minimum of five years of exceptional experience leading international donor-supported programs
  • Minimum of five years of climate change adaptation experience, preferably in Maldives, or a similar country context
  • Fluent in English and Dhivehi required
  • Demonstrated networking capability with government, private sector and/or non-government entities in Maldives
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local Maldivian context
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
