KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR

As a leading development and humanitarian organization, CARE strives to develop a strong knowledge base on effective strategies and approaches, generate evidence of impact, and build strategic partnerships for humanitarian response, long-term development, scale-up and advocacy. The Knowledge Management and Communications Advisor will support CARE USA’s Global Advocacy Team, including Country Offices and regional units we support, to reach their advocacy goals by facilitating information sharing, learning, data analysis, and the development and strengthening of advocacy skills and strategies across the relevant communities.

The Advisor will support the contribution of CARE USA’s Impact and Innovation Department to CARE’s 2030 impact areas by capturing and sharing evidence-based impact. The Advisor would thrive in a fast-paced environment, hungry for information, data and evidence that they could translate to various audiences with proven written/verbal communication skills. Must be interested in working in a matrixed and geographically dispersed organization, with the ability to self-start and carry projects forward with input from multiple teams.

Responsibilities:

• Support colleagues to build and/or strengthen advocacy capacity in priority contexts
• Facilitate Knowledge Management and Learning
• Ensure internal systems related to KM and communications reflect CARE’s Global Advocacy
• Contribute to the Care International Advocacy Working Group

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Master’s degree in international relations, international development, politics/public policy or related field (desirable)
• Five years of previous professional experience in a similar position, or an equivalent combination of work and volunteer experience that has included responsibility for activities or outcomes other than academic assignments
• Strong Storyteller and narrative writer
• Experience developing and implementing quantitative analysis and impact measurement activities
• Solid writing, oral communication, Internet, spreadsheet, and organizational skills
• Ability to function in complex, changing environments, and to work with diverse groups as well as independently
