Main purpose of job:

The role includes responsibilities in relation to the management of budgets and providing a full range of administrative support to the NCA Country and Regional Managers, including: drafting letters, inputting and maintaining database records, scheduling meetings, and booking travel and accommodations.

The successful candidate will be expected to respond to information requests from London and from Australian / New Zealand stakeholders with a view to strengthening collaboration between governments and law enforcement partners.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

  • Along with the resident NCA officers, work jointly with Australian and New Zealand law enforcement partners reference the exchange of information leading to a reduction in the flow of Serious and Organised crime impacting the UK.
  • Plan and manage the delivery of high-level visits both to and by NCA staff.
  • Engage with senior Australian officials and other international partners.
  • Develop and maintain constructive relations with relevant contacts in the Australian/New Zealand administrations and in the broader Canberra community.
  • Maintain multiple Official-Sensitive (Protect), intelligence database records.
  • Produce and analyse information reports and statistics.
  • Oversight and management of internal budgets.
  • Act as the principal point of contact for routine corporate functions, including: finance, IT, and procurement.
  • Provide administrative support to the NCA office, including filing, photocopying and VC/teleconference scheduling.
  • Undertake other duties that may reasonably be required, within the grading and core competencies of the job, including attendance at, and planning for, representational events.

Both online learning and access to the wider FCDO learning opportunities will be available as well as potential travel to UK and elsewhere for specific law enforcement residential learning.

Due to the security clearance level required for this position, this vacancy is only open to Australian, American, British, Canadian and New Zealand citizens and must have the right to work in Australia.

Appointment is subject to an AFP records check and UK security clearance.

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.

Staff recruited locally by the British High Commission is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Australian employment law.
