Summary of position:
Job Description:

The mandate of the Trade Commissioner Service is to promote Canada’s economic interests in global markets by engaging in a range of activities including:
• contributing to export market development;
• conducting advocacy and foreign market access activities;
• understanding and analyzing trade policy issues;
• attracting foreign investment to Canada;
• developing of a network of international business contact;
• identifying and communicating of business leads;
• fostering of strategic alliances;
• linking Canadian businesses to global value chains;
• supporting licensing and venture capital linkages;
• promoting joint-venture partnering and foreign equity investment;
• facilitating R&D collaboration and technology transfer;
• promoting corporate social responsibility;
• and facilitating of Canadian direct investment abroad.

The Trade Program Coordinator supports the Trade Commissioner Service through budget tracking, information management, scheduling, logistics and event planning, responding to clients/ partner client’s requests, providing administrative services to one or more officers and other duties assigned. The position is a senior administrative support-level position of the Trade program.

Essential qualifications:
Mandatory Screening Qualifications: (In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following)

Education: Graduation from a government recognized university.

Language: Superior command of written and oral English and Hindi is essential.

Experience: Applicants must have at least three (3) years of relevant work experience in:
• Supporting trade and investment promotion, market research, event planning or business development;
• Serving clients online or in person in a professional environment;
• Writing, editing and formatting documents;
• Conducting on-line research and synthesizing information from research into a coherent format, such as briefings, correspondence, and responses to enquiries.
• Extensive experience in budget and financial management and reconciliation, and in office management and document control.
Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of MS-Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Mandatory Rated Qualifications: (These qualifications will be assessed as a part of the staffing process)

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of Indian government departments and agencies;
• Working knowledge of budgets and the principles of financial management.
Abilities:
• Ability to plan and organize workflow, effectively managing multiple and conflicting demands within tight deadlines;
• Ability to autonomously triage and effectively handle correspondence, including letters, phone calls and electronic communications;

Operational Requirements:
APPLICANT MUST:
• Meet all of the mandatory screening qualifications and mandatory rated qualifications stated below
• Have independent work authorization in India
• Be available to work overtime (at times including weekends) and for occasional travel within India

The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to a Reliability Check (RC) obtained by the Management. To conduct the Reliability Check (RC), the candidate will have to submit the following documents on being selected by the mission.
* Police clearance certificate (Character Certificate)
* Letter of recognition from your bank stating your name, years of client service and your address
* Professional and educational certificates and mark sheets (i.e., academic transcripts)
* Must be able to maintain eligibility for VISA – required travel to Canada (ie. Criminal convictions could result in loss of job).

Selection Procedure:

The results of this competition may also be used to establish an eligibility list to staff similar openings at the High Commission of Canada, Delhi which may arise in the twelve (12) months following the completion of this competition.
