Level: Assistant Classification: LE-04 Location: Kuwait City, Kuwait Closing date for applications: 31-03-2021 at 23:59 UTC/GMT Summary of position: Under the supervision of the Management and Consular Officer, the receptionist operates the central telephone switchboard serving all programs of the mission; provides general information to visitors on the Consular, Public Diplomacy and Trade Programs; controls physical access to the Chancery and provides a front-line reception service; The receptionist works as backup for the Consular section, accordingly, receives various types of documents from clients, delivers ready passports to Canadian citizens and responds to consular inquiries received by emails, telephone or in-person; performs other duties as required. Essential qualifications: Essential qualifications Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications. Education: • University degree/diploma from a recognized institution Language: • Fluency in English (written and spoken) • Fluency in French (written and spoken) • Fluency in Arabic (written and spoken) Experience: • Minimum (2) years of recent* experience working in an office environment with standard office procedures. • Experience working with computers and a wide variety of office software applications. • Experience providing services directly to clients in person, electronically and by telephone. * Recent is defined as within the past 5 years Rated Requirements The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment. If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications, they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to complete training related to consular work and passports which will allow the successful candidate the opportunity to take acting assignments within the Consular section as required. • The successful candidate must maintain fluency in spoken and written English, French and Arabic at all times during their employment. The successful candidate must undertake to complete language assessments in any of the three languages as required by the employer.
