UNICEF procures and supplies over 5,000 products to address the needs of children. Supporting child survival and development programmes around the world, UNICEF-procured supplies are critical in providing for children’s health, education and protecting them from abuse, exploitation and neglect.

This position is located in the Technical unit within the Medicines & Nutrition Centre in UNICEF Supply Division, reporting to the Technical Specialist. The core function of the Technical team is to ensure that the product portfolio procured and supplied by UNICEF is safe, fit-for-purpose and meets the required quality standards.

How can you make a difference?

The key role for the Technical Associate is to support the technical specialists in the implementation of technical standards and guidelines for key products purchased and supplied by UNICEF. This specific position will mainly support technical aspects for procurement and supply of MNC products for humanitarian emergency response, emergency health kits, country and partner specific requests for non-standard items.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:
1. Drafts, prepares and finalises product specifications on basis of existing documentation, directives and customer requirements. Translates specifications with expert help if necessary. Communicates with country offices and suppliers to obtain all necessary clarifications.

2. Maintains technical aspects of the qualified supplier profiles, prepares lists of potential pre-qualified suppliers for potential/ pre-qualified suppliers for all tendering and forwards it to Contracting for further action.

3. Administers market research. Establishes and maintains database for product sources. Contacts and follows up new sources directly or through trade agencies or professional and technical organisations. Extracts, indexes or records information from catalogues, price lists, etc. and analyses against current purchasing data.

4. Assists country programmes , partners or any special project in the preparation of supply forecasts, analyses, establishing product specifications, quantities, budgets and correct planning.

5. Facilitates communication with UNICEF Programmes, Supply Division Centres, UN agencies and partners on technical matters.

6. In coordination with the Material Owners ensures that the Material Master remains updated at all times.

7. Any other assigned duties.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Required:
– Valid work permit and residency in Denmark at the time of submitting the application. Note that the selected candidate is responsible for obtaining any required extension of their residency permit as an extension cannot be dependent on an employment with UNICEF.
– Completion of secondary education.
– Knowledge of pharmaceutical products obtained from pharmaceutical industry, regulatory work, hospital pharmacy or other area related to pharmaceuticals
– A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office package, Word, Excel, and Power point.
– Fluency in English

Desirable:
– Proficiency in another UN language (French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Russian).
– University degree in relevant area
– Knowledge of SAP, SharePoint, Power BI
