The Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement is a cross-sector collaboration of governments, donors, businesses, UN agencies and civil society organisations, coming together with the collective aim of ending malnutrition for all by 2030. The Civil Society Network (CSN) is one part of the overall SUN Movement, and has over 4000 members, split across 50+ national alliances and four regional groups. The network aims to create space for civil society voices wherever possible, to foster an enabling landscape for nutrition action, to support its members programme delivery, and to generate evidence and learning along the way. The CSN Secretariat, hosted at Save the Children UK, works to enable and support the network’s members, national alliances and regional groups to achieve their aims across functional areas including advocacy, monitoring and evaluation, technical assistance, fundraising and sustainability, youth empowerment, and communications.

The Head of the CSN Secretariat provides high-quality line management to the five Secretariat staff members and ensures the successful development and expansion of a vibrant civil society network, delivering results aligned with both the SUN Movement’s strategy and the new CSN strategy. The Head also builds key relationships with colleagues and organisations across other SUN networks (UN, business, and donor), the SUN CSN Steering Group, and Save the Children UK, manages a significant multi-year budget, and leads on overall project management for the Secretariat.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator that knows how to bring the best out of both a directly managed team and senior stakeholders from around the network. They are an outstanding strategic thinker who can maintain a strong understanding of a broad, multi-disciplinary workplan, and relishes solving the complex issues that arise in a global coalition. The candidate should have extensive experience in international development, and ideally have worked in the field of health or nutrition at the country level.
