Development Associate (Washington, D.C.)

Reports to Senior Director of Development and Communications

Part time (20 hours a week) with potential to become full time

The Development Associate is responsible for the efficient and timely processing and acknowledgement of donations. The Associate is responsible to assist the Donor Engagement Director with tasks related to improving the donor experience.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Receive and process donations in all forms and from all sources.

  2. Enter all donations and designations into database.

  3. Flag any special notes, inconsistencies, or the like and bring to the attention of Donor Relations Director for direction and follow up.

  4. With guidance from Donor Engagement Director, accept, process, and acknowledge donations in accordance with standard UPA business practices. **

  5. Prepare acknowledgements for review by Donor Engagement Director.

  6. Acknowledge new donors with New Donor Package. Keep a running log of new donors and factors which precipitated initial giving. Include in monthly report. Flag donor quotes for potential communications use.

  7. Acknowledge new monthly donors with Circle of Hope Donor Package. Keep a running log of new Circle of Hope donors and factors which precipitated their giving. Include in monthly report. Flag stories for potential communications use.

  8. Follow-up with monthly donors, under guidance of Donor Engagement Director.

  9. Update and/or fix contact records in database; be responsible for the overall integrity of the database.

  10. Ensure synchronicity between donor database and other UPA communication software.

  11. Prepare database donation coding, acknowledgements, and other related notifications prior to beginning of each fundraising campaign.**

  12. Prepare occasional in-house mailings. **

  13. Inventory, prepare and stock sufficient quantities of standard donor packets.**

  14. Other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

· A Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

· Proven organizational and time management skills.

· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Donor databases including Donor Perfect is a plus, as well as Constant Contact and social media tools.

· Detailed oriented, positive and ability to function in a fast pace work environment.

· Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

· Knowledge and interest in the Middle East and the Palestinian context.
