Main purpose of job
Invest Northern Ireland (Invest NI) is the Northern Ireland government’s business development agency, working to grow the local economy by helping businesses develop and expand both at home and internationally.
Through its global network, Invest NI supports companies in accessing new markets, building partnerships, and increasing export sales to bring long-term economic benefit to Northern Ireland.
To enhance its operational capacity in Latin America, Invest NI is introducing a new Business Development Associate role within its Americas Team, based at the British Embassy in Mexico City. This entry-level position will support the Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, contributing to the team’s efforts to identify export opportunities.
The role will primarily involve desk-based research, market analysis, and partner/channel mapping, with a strong focus on the advanced manufacturing sector. Key areas include crushing, screening, and washing equipment for aggregates production; agricultural machinery and attachments; and waste & recycling technologies such as sorting and separation systems. The Associate will support the collection of market insights, contribute to report development, and assist in identifying potential distributors and strategic collaborators across Mexico and the broader LATAM region.
Working closely with the Regional Director, the jobholder will support the delivery of trade-related activities such as business matchmaking and sector engagement planning. While the role does not carry direct responsibility for managing client relationships, it offers valuable exposure to international trade development and cross-cultural business environments.
The Associate will interact with a range of stakeholders including Northern Ireland companies, Latin American businesses, UK Government departments (e.g., Department for Business and Trade), and industry bodies, while also collaborating with internal Invest NI teams across sectors and international operations.
Learning and development will be a key feature of the role. The jobholder will receive on-the-job coaching, sector-specific training, and access to Invest NI’s internal resources.
