Who are we?
The British Embassy in Belgrade is part of a world‑wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas, and is looking to recruit a Part‑Time Driver. You’ll join Corporate Services to keep colleagues and visitors moving safely and on time – where flexibility with your schedule is essential.
Main purpose of job:
As our Driver, you will provide a safe, professional and highly reliable transport and courier service for the Embassy, combining defensive driving, proactive route planning, and first‑class customer service. You will take ownership of vehicle readiness (daily checks, cleanliness, fuelling and maintenance scheduling), keep accurate transport records, and support the logistics of high‑level visits. Your judgement and discretion help protect our people and our reputation on every journey.
What you’ll do:
- Drive His Majesty’s Ambassador (HMA), Embassy staff and official visitors to/from engagements across Belgrade and Serbia (occasionally the region), always complying with local traffic laws.
- Perform regular courier duties and contribute to the transport plan for high‑level visits.
- Plan routes using available technology and provide journey details in advance to the HMA’s PA.
- Ensure vehicles are service‑ready: daily fluid/tyre checks, cleaning, fuelling, preventative maintenance/registration.
- Maintain precise records of bookings, mileage and fuel; manage expenses with receipts.
- Partner professionally with local police/traffic authorities when required.
- Support colleagues with ad‑hoc office/transport tasks; cover for absent drivers and work in shifts when needed.
What you’ll love about the role:
- Real flexibility: Part‑time (25 hours/week) with flexible patterns and shift cover – ideal if you value balancing work with other commitments. Flexibility with your schedule is essential for success in this role.
- Purpose with variety: From everyday runs to high‑profile visits, no two days are the same – and your professionalism directly enables the Embassy’s mission.
- Proud standards: You’ll deliver service the Embassy can rely on, with safety, discretion and courtesy at the heart of what you do.
