The British Consulate General in Casablanca is looking to recruit a Trade Adviser under Department of Business and Trade, job grade Executive Officer (EO) on a permanent contract based in Casablanca.
Main Purpose of the job
To support the delivery of trade promotion activities under the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) Country Implementation Plan for Morocco, the DBT Regional Trade Plan for Africa and the Morocco Country Business Plan. The role focuses on providing flexible, project management, and business engagement support to sector leads and the wider DBT team. The successful candidate will help UK companies explore opportunities in Morocco by assisting with market research, event coordination, project and campaign delivery, stakeholder engagement, and logistics
Duties and responsibilities:
Support Senior Trade Advisers and other trade colleagues: Based on direction set by the DBT Team leader, assist senior colleagues in delivering trade and investment activities by providing project management support, coordinating meetings, and tracking sector-specific developments.
Deliver specific support to business in sectors not covered by the DBT Senior Trade Advisors (e.g. in water, rail and energy).
Market Research and Monitoring: Conduct research on the Moroccan market, local stakeholders and priority sectors. Help maintain an up-to-date evidence base by gathering and summarising relevant data and news.
Event and Visit Support: Help organise trade missions, webinars, business events, and promotional activities. This includes logistical arrangements, preparing guest lists, coordinating venues, and supporting follow-up communications.
Stakeholder Coordination: Maintain and update contact databases. Support the team in managing relationships with Moroccan and UK stakeholders by scheduling meetings and preparing briefing notes.
Administrative and Operational Support:
- Assist with data entry and reporting in DBT systems.
- Help ensure export opportunities are recorded and shared with UK businesses.
- Provide ad hoc support such as translation, interpreting, and responding to routine enquiries.
- Assist with budget tracking, business planning inputs, and document management.
Team Collaboration: Work flexibly across the DBT Morocco team and collaboratively with other government departments in Morocco, contributing to shared goals and supporting colleagues as needed. Be ready to take on additional tasks in response to changing business needs.
The above list is not exhaustive, and the jobholder will be required to be flexible as specific responsibilities could change in the future, and this would be at the discretion of the line manager. The job description may be reviewed to meet changes in business needs. The jobholder may also take on other ad hoc tasks as required.

- A university degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., business, economics, international relations, administration).
- At least 1–2 years of relevant work experience, ideally in a support, administrative, or customer service role.
- Strong written and spoken English and French; Arabic is an advantage.
- Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling data and documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Working hours and remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a non-negotiable gross salary of MAD 26,696 per month. However, employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
The package includes a good level of medical insurance, 21 days of annual leave (calculated on pro rata basis) plus 14 public holidays, access to on-site swimming pool, tennis court and gym facilities.
There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
The contract will be for full‑time employment, on a permanent basis, subject to a (3) three‑month probation period, renewable once for a total probation period of up to six (6) months.
Conditioned working hours for the position are 38 hours per week. Normal office hours are from Mondays to Thursdays from 08:00-16:15 and Fridays from 08:00-13:00. Flexible working arrangement may be considered based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies. Independent working will be evaluated as a behaviour in interviews.
The Embassy and the FCDO have a strong commitment to learning and development, and all staff are required to agree on a learning and development plan with their line manager to keep track of their learning objectives and journey. The jobholder will also be required to undertake a number of mandatory training courses as part of their role.

The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around 2-3 months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and in the UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidate’s profile and UK footprint.
