Duties and Responsibilities

The Fellow will be working under the supervision of FORUM-ASIA’s NHRI Programme Officer. Work hours are from 10:00 –18:00 ICT. Flexible hours can be negotiated with the team.

The Fellow shall carry out the following duties:

  • Compile, clean, and synthesise data obtained from ANNI members for the Annual Report 2021, and liaise with external researchers and/or consultants for streamlining findings and trends, when required;
  • Prepare timely drafts of the Annual Report for review, along with the NHRI Programme Officer and Associate;
  • Assist in collating data and updating the NHRI Programme’s database on Asian NHRIs’ responses to COVID-19;
  • Assist the NHRI Programme team in providing report-writing, note-taking, and logistical support for internal and external events, when required;
  • Assist in organising events, or any other online/offline initiative by the Programme;
  • Participate regularly in team and organisational meetings; and
  • Assist in any other tasks as required by supervisor
    Qualifications and requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of human rights, or a related subject such as sociology, politics, international development, international relations, international law, or Asian studies.

Essential Criteria:

  • At least one year of experience in the field of human rights, preferably working with NHRIs
  • Understanding of the overall socio-political situation as well as the human rights situation in the Asian region, and practical knowledge of international human rights standards, mechanisms and practices;
  • Knowledge of the working of NHRIs in the Asia region, and their mechanisms;
  • Excellent research and documentation skills, and knowledge of research software (i.e NVivo/ATLAS.ti/MAXQDA etc) is an advantage;
  • Good technical aptitude and expertise with MS Office tools;
  • Good analytical, communication, and report drafting and writing skills;
  • Ability to solve problems and work in a multicultural team;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and;
  • Self-motivated and willingness to learn.
