The British Embassy Amman has an internship opportunity available under the Political & Governance (P&G) Team. This is for a fixed-term internship period of three (3) months renewable for a further three (3) months subject to satisfactory performance and on on-going business requirement.
The successful candidate will be working with all members of the P&G team in coordination with their line manager. They will contribute to data management tasks and provide support to the Communications Team during a busy spring and summer period
Duties and responsibilities:
The P&G team is looking to recruit a short-term intern in anticipation of a busy spring and summer. The intern will facilitate embassy-wide events, support external communications and programming activities.
Scope of Work:
The intern will be responsible for the following tasks:
Visits & Events
- Support event planning and implementation. This includes internal and external meetings, working groups, roundtables.
- Assist with logistical coordination embassy wide events including venue set up, stakeholder communication and follow-up actions.
- Support logistics for incoming VIP visits.
- Compile and update bios of current and former senior officials to support future visits preparations.
Communications
- Post, translate and assist with recording of content for Embassy communications on social media.
- Manage monthly social media content plan.
- Support monitoring and evaluation of social media through creation of monthly and quarterly evaluations.
- Assist plans for engagement with traditional media and influencers within Jordan.
UK scholarships
- Review, update, and categorize the Chevening scholarship alumni database for better usability.
- Assist with post‑interview follow‑up, coordination with London, and communications related to award announcements.
- Contribute to Chevening promotion, marketing, and pre‑departure/information sessions.
Data management
- Review structure of team library and adjust to meet need.
- Update the library with necessary reports, internal and from external sources
- Review and updating contact lists and other databases.

Working Hours and Remuneration
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a remuneration of JOD 220 per month based on 37 hours per week.
There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this internship position.
This is a full-time internship position on a fixed term basis for three (3) months, renewable for a further three (3) months subject to satisfactory performance and on on-going business requirement. This position is subject to one (1) month probation period. The appointment is subject to satisfactory local and UK security clearances. The selected candidate must have a right to live and work in Jordan.
Normal working hours at the Embassy are from Sundays to Wednesdays from 08:00-15:30 and Thursdays from 08:00-15:00. The Embassy operates a flexible working policy that allows staff to work different hours as well as allowing staff to work from home one day a week, based on operational requirements and agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Embassy policies. The successful candidate should be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will also be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours (evenings/ weekends).
