Main purpose of the job:
We are pleased to offer a 6-month paid internship program for high-performing, motivated individuals with excellent communication skills both in English and Polish, who wish to gain professional experience in a dynamic, fast-paced working environment.
Our internship offers an opportunity to build skills, confidence and networks with other colleagues and peer groups. Working alongside British diplomats and locally engaged staff of different Embassy teams, the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to develop and expand relevant experience in many areas and preparation for work in different environments in the future.
We are looking to recruit 1 DBT Intern (on a full-time basis) and 2 FCDO Interns for the Private Office (on a part-time basis).
Roles and responsibilities:
Department for Business and Trade:
The primary role of a DBT Poland Intern is to assist in UK-PL business and trade cooperation projects within the Export, Investment & Market Access teams. This will include market research, supporting organisation and delivery of internal and external events, contacting business stakeholders, providing day-today admin and logistic support.
Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office:
The primary role of an intern is to assist in projects run by the Private Office for HM Ambassador and other senior officers, combined with administrative duties and day-to-day tasks of the office, as well as projects and events of other Embassy teams. This may include supporting visits and events, monitoring and evaluating of the Polish media landscape, engagement in the foreign, security, humanitarian or soft power policy works, or procurement, estates, health and safety or admin projects as necessary.

Essential on arrival:
- fluency in English and Polish (both oral and written skills, minimum C1 level according to CEFR*);
- Having graduated from secondary school and being under the age of 30;
- Good communication and organisational skills;
- Strong attention to detail and deadlines;
- Ability to work independently and efficiently;
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office package and the use of AI for basic tasks.

All internships run for a fixed period of 6-months and should be completed either on a full-time basis for DBT interns (37.5 hours net per week) or part-time basis for FCDO interns (22.5 hours net per week) from Monday to Friday. Interns are expected to work 5 days a week from the office but we offer flexible working hours. The 6-month internship comprises of a 3-month internship and a 3-month traineeship.

Internships offered at the British Embassy are governed by the applicable Polish law. All interns are responsible for paying any income tax required by the local law to the applicable Tax Office. The successful candidate will be subject to the reference checks and the satisfactory completion of security clearance.
Visa / Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Poland and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure you meet the legal requirements to live and work in this country. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.
