The British Consulate General in Erbil has a vacancy for an International Liaison Support Officer to the UK National Crime Agency (NCA)
Roles and responsibilities:
The main purpose of the role of the International Liaison Support Officer to the UK National Crime Agency (NCA) International Liaison Officers (ILOs) in Erbil and supporting and assisting them in achieving their objectives as set by NCA and in maintaining and strengthening their relationships with host agencies.
This involves providing essential administrative and logistical support to the NCA ILOs work in respect of the SOC threats which are impacting on the to the UK from serious organised crime.
- Conduct office administration duties with oversight from the ILOs and in accordance with policy and standard operating procedures. Duties include but are not limited to: translation of documents, attendance and translation at meetings, records management, IT management (not maintenance), maintaining office accounts, maintenance of the asset register and gifts and hospitality register; planning travel and visits; diary management and organising official events. This may require occasional attendance at events outside normal working hours.
- Responsible for the line management of CBS staff engaged by NCA
- Provide Kurdish Sorani language support and translation services to the NCA ILOs sometimes to tight deadlines with ILO advice and strictly observing the confidentiality of work issues and security, including for exchanges of information and at official meetings and events.
- Ensure ongoing collaboration with a variety of in-country government institutions and senior officials in KRI while adjusting to unexpected situations.
- Compile verbal and written briefings as directed, including regular daily, weekly and monthly management reporting.
- Proactively liaise with Performance Assurance and Risk section to identify, record and develop operational Disruption submissions
- Provide open source (Tier 1) research support, especially exploitation of information sources in Kurdish Sorani.
- Maintain oversight of regional projects/training programmes as required including, but not limited to supporting, monitoring and evaluation of their impact; monitoring budgets to ensure value for money.
- Monitor the NCA office mailbox and telephone so that messages are responded to in a timely fashion and / or directed as required;
- Carry out general office management duties as directed by the NCA when the ILO is away from post.
The above list is not exhaustive, and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required, including participating in the Embassy’s emergency planning and any other response to a crisis.

Eligibility:
- Applicants are responsible for ensuring they already have the right to live and work in Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). Obtaining the correct permissions can be particularly complicated if employees and any dependants are not already resident in the country. Unfortunately, neither the Consulate nor the Embassy can arrange an Iraqi residency for this role.
- Applicants must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of local and UK security clearance required for this role. Higher clearances can be granted only to certain nationalities.For this reason, candidates must be of British, American, Australian, Canadian, New Zealand in order to gain the level of clearance required for this role.

Working hours and remuneration:
The Consulate General aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role.
The role grade is at Executive Officer (EO) grade, with a base salary of US$ 2604 per month. This base salary is paid 13 times a year. In addition, a monthly security allowance of US$ 200 is payable for this role. The allowance is subject to review and may be altered or withdrawn at any time.
No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
This position is for a full-time employment on a permanent contract basis. Employment is also subject to a 90-day probationary period .
Conditioned working hours are 38 hours per week. Normal working hours are from 09:00 to 17:00 from Sundays to Wednesdays and from 09:00 to 15:00 on Thursdays. There may be some flexibility for starting and leaving times as long as the conditioned hours are completed. This will be considered based on operational requirements and in agreement with the line manager, and in line with FCDO and Consulate policies.
The NCA is a 24/7 organisation, and working patterns must support business requirements. The job holder may be required to travel regularly within KRI. Some work (including travel) will be required during the evenings and occasionally weekends, for which time off in lieu or overtime (where applicable) will be applicable.
The jobholder will be required to be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and will involve occasionally working out of hours (evening and/ or weekends) during events.
