The British Embassy in Muscat is part of a worldwide network that represents the UK’s political, economic, security, and consular interests overseas. We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive individual for a Networks and Partnerships Intern on a fixed-term contract of five (5) months, ending in November 2026.
The Networks and Partnerships Intern will manage the Programmes Team’s networks, deliver events and engagement. The role will span many areas of focus, such as art, sport, digital innovation, business, sustainability, and opportunities for women and youth. The role will also support the Embassy’s communications, corporate objectives and crisis management.
Roles and responsibilities:
This is a diverse role managing the effective delivery of Programmes Team events and engagement. You will be responsible for networks and data management, ensuring successful event delivery, communication and compliance. This role will work closely with the Programme Manager, Tamkeen Coordinator, other Embassy teams, and is managed by the Head of Programmes.
The job requires you to:
- Work independently and proactively on a day-to-day basis, exercising good judgement and escalating to the Head of Programmes when required.
- Solve problems, make event decisions and upward recommendations based on sound interpretation and evidence.
- Utilise engagement skills to develop relationships with a range of stakeholders and networks.
- Develop and translate event and communications materials.
- Work with colleagues in the Programmes team and across the Embassy, such as Chancery, Trade and Comms, to ensure alignment with other Embassy activities and objectives.
- Collaborate with the wider Embassy to support crisis, culture, cohesion and continuous professional development.
- Overseen by the Head of Programmes, you will manage resources to design and deliver a range of events and network engagement activities.
You will have the opportunity to enhance your skills in a broad range of areas such as project management, stakeholder engagement, events and data management.

Eligibility:
If you are selected for this position, we will be able to employ you as long as you:
- Have the right to live and work in Oman; and
- Receive the appropriate level of standard security clearance.
Working Conditions and Remuneration:
The Embassy offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for the role, including a stipend of OMR 200 per month, and use of on-site recreational facilities including a swimming pool and social club.
This internship is for a full-time role, on a fixed-term basis of five (5) months, ending in November 2026, subject to 3-month probationary period. Conditioned working hours are 35 hours per week. Standard working hours are from 0730 to 1430 Sunday to Thursday. For this internship, there is flexibility between 0730 and 1700 and will require out-of-hours for events.
The Intern will be overseen by the Head of Programmes and will manage resources to design and deliver a range of events and network engagement activities.
Embassy staff have access to a wide range of learning and development courses across many subjects, including programme management, economics, climate and gender. The role will have the opportunity to learn about project management from the Programme Manager and Head of Programmes.
Employment in the advertised position is dependent on the potential employee having or acquiring valid UK security clearance. Security clearances can take several weeks to process. Inability to obtain a clearance will preclude employment. Loss of a security clearance at any time will lead to termination of employment.

Process:
The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around two-three months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and with UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidates’ profile and UK footprint. You may experience some delay in the progress of this recruitment campaign, and we are working hard to minimise any disruption.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful at interview may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of twelve (12) months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
The start date mentioned in the job advert is a tentative start date and the successful candidate will be required to undergo security-vetting procedures. Any offer of employment will be subject to the candidate achieving suitable clearances and reference checks.
