The British High Commission in Nicosia is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Payroll Officer (part-time) to process payroll and provide support to the overall pay and rewards structure for British High Commission staff.
What You’ll Be Delivering:
Payroll Administration (90%)
- Calculate and process monthly salaries of staff and pensioners, including all relevant monthly/yearly statements.
- Prepare statutory returns to local authorities.
- Troubleshoot payroll related issues and respond to payroll related enquiries.
Team Activities (10%)
- Support other colleagues within Corporate Services as and when necessary.
- Participate in Post crisis activity.
- Work with teams and leadership to feed into wider stakeholder requests/contributions.

Our ideal candidate has:
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken (minimum of C1 CEFR framework level language*).
- Experience in Finance and administrative work in a similar environment.
- Excellent hands-on knowledge of MS Excel and other MS Office programmes.
- Precision in implementing tasks, meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, verbally and in writing.

Good to have:
- fluency in Greek is desirable.
- Experience with local authority websites for employment and tax purposes.
- Valid and clean driving licence and willingness to drive as part of job duties.

This is a 12 months fixed-term contract.
Your schedule is based on 72 hours per month (approximately 2.5 days per week on average) and we offer a flexible scheme that allows you to distribute these hours evenly across weeks or days or to work in an alternative pattern such as condensed hours or condensed weeks.
The confirmation of appointment is subject to professional background checks and security clearance procedures, as well as the successful completion of a 6 months probation period.
The successful candidate must be free of any convictions and undergo a UK security clearance process.

Staff recruited locally by the British High Commission in Nicosia are subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Republic of Cyprus employment law.
