Communications and Knowledge Management Assistant

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Under the direct supervision of the UNCDF PNG Country Office management the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • The volunteer will support the UNCDF PNG CO team in the development and implementation of communication strategies in transitioning from PFIP to UNCDF focused on Support To Rural Enterprises, Investment and Trade (STREIT) and other new initiatives planned to commence from 2021 and onwards
  • Write blogs, feature and success stories about results achieved and efforts pursued under PFIP and new Programme projects in the areas of financial inclusion, climate adaptation and disaster risk financing, inclusive digital Economy and other programmatic themes based on relevant inputs from project/programme managers, partners and donors.
  • Support the research, writing, translation, design and production of communication outputs, such as writing of press releases, reports and publications, and dissemination to UNDP country and regional offices, partners and stakeholders.
  • Take lead in boosting PNG’s STREIT and PNG Inclusive Digital Economy Programme presence in online communications and social media; provide as required maintenance of the UNCDF online platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube channel, etc.
  • Draft/update PNG country briefs about key donor countries detailing their development policies and foreign policy priorities.
  • Contribute to the creation of content for specific stakeholders, including presentation decks and literature.
  • Provide technical support to UNCDF PNG country team in the development and appropriate use of communication and advocacy tools (i.e. newsletter, websites, posters, brochures, pamphlets) to increase visibility of UNCDF in PNG
  • Assist in organizing events, launches of publications, seminars and conferences, global campaigns.
  • Any other work related to communications and research related to UNCDFs work in PNG


Bachelor degree or equivalent


Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Communications, Media, International Relations, Social Studies or a related discipline.

Other communications related experience, Knowledge management, archiving and documentation, Public information and reporting

Excellent English writing and presentation skills is required.
