CONTEXT
The Medical Equipment Referent is part of the Biomed Service Unit (BSU).
Due to the strong multi-department (Medical, Logistics, Supply) transversal dimension attached to this Biomed domain, accompanying the life cycle of the medical equipment (the selection, installation, maintenance, safe use and management, including the waste management and safe disposal):
• The BSU governance is overseen by the Medical, Supply and Logistics directorate
• The BSU operational priorities are given by a steering committee composed of 1 Medical Officer + 1 Logistics Cell + 1 Supply Chain Officer of the operations department.
The Biomed services are articulated around 5 pillars of activities to ensure quality of care, continuity of service and cost containment:

RESPONSIBILITIES
Main responsibilities
· Support Operational clinical activities
· Guidance on Medical equipment investments and follow-up
· Guidance on safe and correct use of Medical equipment
· Guidance on local purchase quality assurance of Medical equipment
· Support the management of Medical equipment in the field
Specific responsibilities Equipment Selection
· Validate new standard and non-standard equipment together with the concerned Medical referents and Operational teams
· Quality assurance of local purchases together with Pharmacy team
· Continuous follow-up of technological evolutions in the fields of treatment, diagnosis and monitoring of patients
· Advise on possibilities (risks and limitations included) concerning the use of Medical equipment and solutions in specific contexts (Ex. Oxygen during Covid)**
Equipment Management
· Create a medical equipment/technology contingency and decommissioning plans in medical facilities
· Develop protocols and procedures for the safe and correct use
· Develop protocols for the technical maintenance and repairs
· Contribute in defining and improving policies, guidelines and procedures**
· Contribute in the development of training material**
Field Support
· Technical support to MSF Missions on non-MSF Standard equipment
· Briefings and debriefings of all medical field staff involved in the lifecycle of Medical equipment
· Field visits as required**
General
· Participate in the Intersectional Biomedical Working
REQUIREMENTS
Experience
· Essential: Extensive Biomed experience in hospitals (min. 5 years)
· Appreciated: Field experience with INGO
· Appreciated: Experience in developing countries
· Appreciated: Training in any specific medical equipment (anesthesia, radiology, laboratory, etc.)
Diploma
· Essential: Technical education (electromechanical engineer specialized in medical applications, biomedical engineer, …)
Competencies
· Essential: Technical and hands-on
· Essential: Reporting abilities
· Essential: Problem solving mindset
· Essential: Good communication skills
Languages
· Essential: English and French (fluent, written and spoken)
· Appreciated: Any other language(s)
CONDITIONS
· Expected starting date: end of April
· Open-ended contract (CDI), based in Brussels
· Salary according to MSF-OCB HQ grid – Hospital Insurance (DKV) – Pension Plan – 100% reimbursement for public transportation costs
