Main Job Purpose:
The Corporate Services Manager is responsible for the effective delivery of all corporate services functions at the British High Commission (BHC) Malé, ensuring efficient, compliant, and value-for-money support to UK Government objectives and the UK-Maldives bilateral relationship.
The role has overall responsibility for the High Commission’s corporate operations, with a primary focus on finance, procurement, human resources, estates management and business operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that corporate services are delivered professionally, efficiently and in compliance with FCDO policies, local legislation and audit requirements.
The position also provides Executive Assistant support to the High Commissioner and Deputy High Commissioner when required and manages the Administrative Assistant/Driver to ensure effective delivery of corporate services support across the mission.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong financial management and corporate services experience.
This is a key role within the British High Commission in Malé. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, regional FCDO hubs, and local suppliers to ensure the smooth operation of all corporate services functions. Strong judgement, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously will be essential.
The role requires an individual who is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively and who can build productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders in Maldives, across the FCDO network and with external service providers.
The Corporate Services Manager will also supervise the Administrative Assistant/Driver, ensuring effective workload management, performance development and delivery of high-quality support services to the High Commission.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Services:
- Finance and Procurement (50%)
Supported by FCDO regional hubs and the Global Transaction Processing Centre (GTPC), the Corporate Services Manager will:

- Manage post finances and ensure compliance with FCDO financial policies, procurement regulations and audit requirements.
- Lead budget monitoring, forecasting and financial reporting, providing regular updates and advice to the High Commissioner and Deputy High Commissioner.
- Monitor expenditure against budgets, identify variances and recommend corrective action where required.
- Manage all local finance processes including payments, invoice processing, reconciliations, cash box management and maintenance of financial records.
- Receive, review and submit invoices for processing and resolve payment and transaction queries within agreed deadlines.
- Manage post cash accounts and undertake reconciliations in accordance with FCDO procedures.
- Act as post focal point for financial queries from staff, suppliers, GTPC and regional finance teams.
- Manage procurement activities in line with FCDO policy, including requisitioning, supplier management and contract oversight.
- Maintain the local contracts database, monitoring contract performance, renewal dates and supplier expenditure.
- Support supplier due diligence and compliance processes.
- Act as Corporate Services GPC Card holder, ensuring appropriate use, reconciliation and reporting.
- Provide financial guidance and support to staff and budget holders.
- Support staff learning and development budget management and monitoring.
- Drive continuous improvement in corporate services systems and processes.
2.Human Resources and Corporate Operations (15%)

- Act as the local HR focal point in coordination with FCDO HR hubs.
- Support recruitment campaigns, onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Maintain accurate employee records and personnel documentation.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are effectively communicated and implemented.
- Support staff engagement initiatives, including Staff Survey action plans, learning and development activities and wellbeing initiatives.
- Monitor local employment legislation and support compliance with labour regulations.
- Line manage the Administrative Assistant/Driver, including objective setting, performance management, leave management, training and professional development.
- Ensure HR and personnel data are accurately maintained across relevant systems.
- Assist with workforce planning and organisational change activities.
- Managing CBS staff terms and conditions and it’s implementation at Post, including its periodic review, while ensuring appropriate consultation with the Regional HR Hubs, Senior Management and Honorary Legal Advisor (HLA) where appropriate.
Estates and Property Management (25%)
- Manage the BHC office and residential estate, ensuring properties are safe, secure and maintained to required standards.
- Oversee contractors and service providers, acting as the primary point of contact for estates-related services.
- Manage planned preventative maintenance programmes and service contracts.
- Conduct routine inspections, risk assessments and compliance checks across the estate.
- Monitor estates budgets and support procurement of maintenance and improvement works.
- Liaise with regional technical works, security and health and safety teams.
- Ensure estates information, property records and compliance documentation are accurately maintained.
- Support visiting technical, security and project teams.
- Identify and escalate risks and mitigation measures to senior management.
Executive Support and Business Operations (10%)
- Provide diary management support for the High Commissioner and Deputy High Commissioner as required.
- Coordinate meetings, visits and senior-level engagements.
- Assist with briefing, correspondence and meeting preparation.
- Support the organisation of official events, receptions and visits.
- Maintain oversight of the BHC general mailbox where required.
- Coordinate diplomatic bag collections and deliveries.
- Support travel bookings, logistics and administrative arrangements for official visitors.
- Ensure the Administrative Assistant/Driver is effectively deployed to support events, visits and operational requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Contribute to the wider management and operation of the British High Commission.
- Support crisis response, business continuity and emergency planning activities.
- Promote excellent customer service and continuous improvement across corporate services functions.

- Direct line management responsibility for the Administrative Assistant/Driver, including performance management, development and day-to-day supervision.
- Oversight of contractor performance across estates, facilities and support services.

For British High Commission (BHC) candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.
For other than BHC candidates, starting salary will be MVR 29,584 per month. Other benefits include 13th month’s salary (pro-rated) and medical insurance coverage.
No relocation or any other related costs or assistance will be provided. FCDO does not pay for any travelling, accommodation & relocation expenses incurred and/or accept any financial risk, including cancellation or reschedule costs.
Please note – BHC does not deduct tax at source and employees are required to ensure that any requirements of local income-tax law are complied with in full. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
