Main Purpose of Job:
To manage and deliver efficient Protocol and Logistics operations—particularly shipment/customs clearance and VIP protocol services—while providing high-quality operational support and customer service to the British Embassy Jakarta and the UK Mission to ASEAN, ensuring smooth day-to-day Logistics and Protocol Team delivery.
What the Jobholder will be Expected to Achieve:
- Manage shipments and customs clearance processes.
- Coordinate and support VIP protocol activities.
- Ensure smooth day-to-day logistics and operational support.
- Provide first-line customer service to Embassy and Mission staff.
- Work closely with the Corporate Services Team to support the Indonesia network.
- Assist in maintaining efficient corporate services for multiple UK Government departments operating on the same platform.
- Support the Embassy and UK Mission’s operational needs in a professional and timely manner.
- Other ad hoc tasks from Logistics and Protocol Team

- Willingness to work additional hours during specific crisis situations (sometimes on a shift pattern working unsociable hours)

This role is advertised as a 12-month fixed term contract with possibility of renewal.
The British Embassy Jakarta offers a competitive remuneration package including:

Working Patterns:
Normal working hours are 39.5 (gross) per week: 07:30hrs to 16:00hrs from Monday to Thursday and 07:30hrs to 13:00hrs. At present, all staff working in the FCDO, Jakarta and Bali are expected to attend the office for three days and two days work from home each week, subject to change.
The working hours are generally fixed, although some flexibility may be required. Occasional weekend and after-hours work are expected to provide VIP airport assistance.
No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. All candidates must be legally able to work and reside in Indonesia with the correct visa/work permit status or demonstrate eligibility to obtain the relevant permit. Any costs related to obtaining or renewing permits and visas are the responsibility of the successful applicant.
Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment checks. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy Jakarta is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law. In relation to this, the successful candidate will need to arrange for his/her own Police Certificate. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
Hiring managers should be available to discuss proposed working patterns with potential candidates, and respond positively where possible, in line with the flexible working policy.
The FCDO also operates an agile workforce. To facilitate this, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as we may reasonably require.
Learning and Development Opportunities:
The Embassy has an active L&D Committee which works hard to provide a comprehensive offer. There are a wide range of options available for personal development including training courses, coaching and mentoring, job-shadowing, presentations and learning. Staff have access to a wide variety of online resources through the Diplomatic Academy and Civil Service Learning and are encouraged to innovate and upskill with MS CoPilot and FCDO-approved AI tools to improve quality of work. Staff are strongly encouraged to take advantage of all the available opportunities. All new staff undertake a workplace induction and there are a number of mandatory e-learning courses covering areas such as diversity, health and safety, and information management.
Flexible learning and development depending on appetite and interest, particularly in the areas of nature and sustainable environment management; and management of aid-funded programmes. Learning and development can be both “on the job” – being able to work with and experience an aid-funded climate and environment portfolio, and climate and environment diplomacy – as well as formal training.
