For our operations in Pokhara/Nepal, we are looking for an
Civil Peace Service (CPS) Advisor (m/f/d) for community based psycho-social work
Field of activity
GIZ’s Civil Peace Service (CPS) programme „Systematic strengthening and linking of local and national potentials for peace in a post-conflict phase” in Nepal aims at creating spaces for non-violent conflict transformation. It does so through support to community mediation, dialogue forums, nonviolent communication and theatre for conflict transformation. CPS further works with local actors to promote a holistic and context appropriated approach to deal with Nepals violent past. Kopila Nepal is an experienced Non-governmental-organization, working on the psychosocial wellbeing of women, children and differently abled people. They also work on the reintegration and rehabilitation of women, who have been affected by violence. Furthermore, they run a 6 months training course for community psychosocial counsellors. The cooperation between GIZ-CPS and Kopila tries to achieve that stories of conflict survivors and survivors of severe violence are told, published and disseminated to the governments and media.

Your tasks
- Support the process of documentation and collecting victim’s stories in therapeutic way
- Review of up-to-date psycho-social tools and identification of areas for capacity development
- Capacity development of Kopila Nepal’s team (i.e. psychosocial methods, care, reintegration and rehabilitation)
- Support to Kopila’s psychosocial department to enhance capacities such as case management and supervision
- Development of strategies to expand outreach of psychosocial support services to communities
- Organizational development (e.g. remote management, fundraising and report writing)
- Capacity building for survivor networks in local level advocacy and outreach and linkage with others in need
Your profile
- University degree in Psychology, Social Work or related subjects
- Several years of experiences in community-based psycho-social interventions
- Knowledge of psycho-social methods for working with victims of violence especially group methods
- Experience in advisory and capacity-building with teams or groups and knowledge on practice focused research and analysis
- General knowledge and experience in methods of conflict transformation, peace building, gender sensitivity, conflict sensitivity and Human Rights approach
- Knowledge in distance monitoring, remote Management
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Nepali language would be an asset or willingness to learn Nepali language
