Job Objective
The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) and the European Cancer Organisation (E.C.O.) are looking for an ambitious, energetic and enthusiastic Policy Officer to work on a full-time basis, based in Brussels and dividing their time between the two organisations (initially anticipated as 60% for EANM and 40% for E.C.O.).
The successful candidate will be supporting the teams of both organisations on policy, monitoring and advocacy activity during an exciting period for EU cancer policy in the context of the developing EU Cancer Mission and Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.
The working language is English.
The EANM-E.C.O. Policy Officer will report to both the Chief Operating Officer of EANM and the E.C.O. EU Affairs & Policy Manager and be located within the office of the E.C.O. team in Brussels.

European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM)
The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM), is a non-for-profit organization registered in Vienna, Austria. Based on volunteer’s engagement, EANM is aiming at improving patient care throughout Europe by fostering and furthering the field of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. EANM’s variety of activities aim at fostering exchange related to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases through the use of unsealed radioactive substances and the properties of stable nuclides in medicine. Representing more than 9,000 professionals in the field from 41 member countries, EANM serves the interests of a pan-European multidisciplinary community, comprised of physicians, scientists, technologists and many others working in the field.
European Cancer Organisation (E.C.O.)
The European Cancer Organisation is a not-for-profit federation of 34 Member Societies working in cancer at a European level, together with 20 European Patient Advisory Committee members through nine Focused Topic Networks. The Mission of the European Cancer Organisation is to reduce the burden of cancer, improve outcomes and the quality of care for cancer patients, through multidisciplinarity and multiprofessionalism. As the not-for-profit federation of member organisations working in cancer at a European level, the European Cancer Organisation convenes oncology professionals and patients to agree policy, advocate for positive change and be the united voice of the European cancer community.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Monitoring policy developments and communicating these effectively to EANM and E.C.O.
• Conducting desk based research and providing briefing material on key topics to organisational leadership
• Drafting of advocacy communication collateral e.g. reports, position papers, fact sheets
• Providing logistical support for policy related events as assigned
• Organising contact programmes with EU decision-makers
• Preparing of consultation responses
• Supporting the monitoring and response to relevant Horizon Europe research calls
• Attending and reporting from policy events, including for alliances and coalitions in which the organisations are involved
• Reviewing papers the organisations are invited to contribute to
• Leading the development of EANM internal procedures and structures to efficiently address policy work, including the growth of EANM’s political relationships
• Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the EANM Chief Operating Officer and/or E.C.O. EU Affairs Policy Manager, or the respective organisations’ Chief Executives.
General Skill Specifications
Previous experience in either EU affairs and/or health policy is highly desirable. The candidate is expected to be computer and internet literate with proven experience in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams and Word). The candidate should be flexible, collaborative and positive team member who accepts additional tasks and responsibilities as directed.
The role requires:
• A high degree of proficiency in writing in English, especially for formal audiences (e.g. meeting reports, minutes, briefings, consultation responses, position papers)
• A background and understanding of the European Union political landscape
• A background and understanding of health policy
• An ability to work independently, think critically and have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• An ability to coordinate tasks and work well with other people. All applicants must be team players and be able to work effectively for two organisations at the same time, in a pragmatic and collaborative manner.
• An ability to work well under pressure and manage competing deadlines
• An ability to absorb information and learn quickly
• An interest and passion for improving the quality of cancer care in Europe
