EU POLICY INTERN

LightingEurope is looking for an EU Policy intern to work directly with the Policy team and liaise with our member experts and external contacts.

Start date: beginning May 2021

Duration: 6 month – only apply if you can commit to the full 6 months please

Location: Brussels – the successful candidate must be available to visit our office in Brussels regularly

LightingEurope is the voice of the lighting industry, based in Brussels and representing 30 companies and national associations. Together these members account for over 1,000 European companies, a majority of which are small or medium-sized. They represent a total European workforce of over 100,000 people and an annual turnover exceeding 20 billion euro.

Role & responsibilities

  • Support the work in LightingEurope Working Groups, Subgroups and Task Forces, in particular:
    •  the organisation and delivery of LightingEurope internal meetings with members.
    • drafting of LE documents/publications
  • Support the Policy Team to liaise with our partners (set up meetings, attend webinars, research latest and upcoming developments)
  • Policy areas: Renovation and EPBD, Digital Policy (DSA, cybersecurity), Ecodesign & Energy Labelling

Profile of the successful candidate

Background

  • University degree in politics, economics, law or business
  • Knowledge or experience in EU internal market, energy or digital policies is a plus.
  • Understanding of the European Union and its institutions, processes and policies

Communication Skills

  • Excellent command of English (both written and oral), additional fluency in one or two other EU working languages is a plus
  • Active on social media
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate concisely

Personal skills

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, proactively seeking clarifications and proposing actions to LE staff
  • Ability to respect deadlines
  • Creative with a sense of adventure
