The American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) in Nur-Sultan is seeking a Communications Specialist, who will oversee internal and external communications for a large portfolio of programs implemented by ABA ROLI in Kazakhstan. The Communications Specialist will work closely with the Chief of Party and Program teams to execute all programmatic communications while ensuring adherence to ABA ROLI and donor branding and communication requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Oversee all external communications under ABA ROLI Kazakhstan’s portfolio of programs;

· Produce communication materials in compliance with ABA ROLI and USAID or U.S. Department of State standards and guidelines;

· Write success stories, press releases, impact statements, and other external products; hold interviews with stakeholders and transform into high quality stories;

· Designs engaging public information materials that communicate complex information to a variety of audiences through graphics, audio/visual, and printed materials

· Own the development of materials required under the “Marking Plan” or other marking related requirements, ensuring compliance with donor requirements;

· Participate in design of potential program and project proposals for ABA ROLI Kazakhstan;

· Periodically conduct donor mapping exercises and other communication related research using various methods or communication channels;

· Monitor media with regards to subjects relevant to ABA ROLI operations and prepare responsive/adaptive measures to address these subjects, as needed;

· Serve as advisor to program staff in developing high quality internal and external communications materials, including social media posts, blog writing, developing presentation and print materials

· Design, develop, and lead communication related trainings for ABA ROLI Kazakhstan and Central Asia regional staff

· Other duties identified by the Chief of Party or Deputy Chief of Party

Required Skills & Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications or related field. Master’s degree preferred;

· At least 5-7 years of experience managing internal and external communications, preferably with largescale donor funded programs;

· Demonstrated success in transforming complex technical materials into concise content that is aligned with different target audiences and their levels of subject matter familiarity, including for websites, newsletters, success stories and annual reports;

· Proven ability to deliver a quality written product and visual presentations; experience and competency with qualitative and quantitative data visualizations;

· Ability to communicate effectively, present the program to donors and partners, write well and express technical issues in a sensitive manner;

· Proficiency with design applications, including Adobe InDesign, Canva, and video editing tools; Ability to take quality video and photographs is preferred;

· Fluent in English and Russian; Kazakh is a plus.
