RECHARGE is the industry association for the advanced rechargeable and lithium batteries value chain in Europe. Founded in 1998, their mission is to promote advanced rechargeable batteries as a key technology that will contribute to a more empowered, sustainable and circular economy by enabling decarbonized electricity and mobility. RECHARGE’s unique membership covers all aspects of the advanced rechargeable battery value chain in Europe: From suppliers of primary and secondary raw materials, to battery and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), to logistic partners and battery recyclers.

More about the position and responsibilities

The Director Communication and Public Affairs will report to the General Manager.

S/He will work internally in relation with the Association Members, and particularly the Board Members, and externally with all the stakeholders in relation with the association: public affairs contacts, other associations, contracting organizations, etc…

The Director will be responsible for RECHARGE’s communication and positioning in order to achieve the best support of the Association’s objectives. S/He will be in charge of the Public Affairs strategy and the supervision of the subcontracted activity to the specialized public affairs and communication organizations.

The Director will provide specific support to those activities:

  • Propose and draft RECHARGE’s positions and communication documents for all communication purposes (public affairs, news, regulatory updates, etc…), including Public Affairs positions;
  • Propose the Communication strategy, manage and feed the communication channels internally (information, contacts update and follow up with the association members) and externally: websites, communications lists update, press public relations, associations and social medias;
  • Propose and develop with the support of the subcontracting organization the Public Affairs strategy, internally with the Members and externally with the official bodies and other stakeholders;
  • Represent RECHARGE and participate actively in local and international meetings and conferences.

In addition, the Director will be responsible for activities such as:

  • Participate and contribute to regular association activities: General Assembly and Board meetings, Plenary sessions, web calls, conference organizations, etc.;
  • Manage autonomously their own activities, costs and support: contribute to the self-secretariat activities inside the association such as invoicing, payments, social secretariat, travel organizations, etc.

Requirements for the position

  • Master degree in a relevant subject – communications/political science/European studies/international relations/or other relevant degrees;
  • Experience in Communication or Public Affairs Inhouse, in an association or consultancy;
  • Knowledgeable in European Public Affairs activities/EU policy arena;
  • Strong interest in the battery sector and industry in Europe, as well as experience in the Industry is an asset;
  • Interest in establishing and developing networks with industry professionals and with public/European/international institutions;
  • Practice of English as business language, other languages are an asset (French, German, Spanish, Dutch).

Key Skills

  • Can easily establish social contact and is skilled in oral communication;
  • Skilled in written communication;
  • Knowledgeable in communication tools (such as IT software, websites, social medias,..);
  • Engaged and result oriented, with autonomous organization and potential interest for association management.

What the position offers

  • Participation in number of meetings/conferences with high-level stakeholders;
  • Ability to travel for international business trips, conferences, or forums such as WRBRF, ICBR, Batteries events, etc.;
  • The position may evolve toward a general management;
  • An attractive remuneration package (incl. fringe benefits) commensurate with qualifications and experience;
  • Full-time, permanent contract.
