The School of Arts & Social Sciences is an internationally excellent centre of research and learning on the human condition in all its dimensions. It is a large and vibrant School with around 4,200 students and over 270 staff in seven Departments: Economics, English, International Politics, Journalism, Music, Sociology and Psychology. The Department of International Politics is a leading centre for research and undergraduate and postgraduate education. It has strength in three core areas of international relations research: International Political Economy, Foreign Policy & Diplomacy and Comparative Politics. The Department hosts the City Political Economy Research Centre (CITYPERC), the Centre for International Policy Studies (CIPS) and the new Centre for Modern History.

Responsibilities

We invite applications from those with a PhD in International Political Economy or cognate field. Preferably, candidates will have research and education expertise in heterodox political economy and global finance, sufficient to deliver introductory modules in micro and macroeconomics and more advanced modules in heterodox approaches to global finance.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have the knowledge and experience to enhance the research output of the Department, will engage enthusiastically in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and contribute fully to the supervision of students and to the life and work of the Department.
