Position description
The Department of Political Science at Gonzaga University is seeking an instructor to teach Latin American Politics in the Fall 2021 semester. Candidates should be committed to pursuing excellence in teaching and promoting an inclusive learning environment. We are especially interested in candidates who explore issues relevant to traditionally marginalized communities such as immigrants, indigenous peoples, and other racial and sexual minorities in their teaching. The Political Science Department at Gonzaga University is committed to building an intellectually vibrant and culturally inclusive community for our students, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate will be fully responsible for course planning, delivering class sessions, creating and collecting assignments, as well as submitting grades. They will also need to be available to students for office hours for one hour per week.
Qualifications
• MA or ABD/PhD in Political Science, Latin American Studies, or related field
• Experience teaching in a classroom setting
• Expertise in Latin American Politics
Desired Qualifications
• PhD in Political Science, Latin American Studies, or related field
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience using classroom strategies and pedagogies to advance equity and inclusion.
