Emergency Readiness and Response Unit (ERRU):
The Emergency Readiness and Response Unit at Action Against Hunger aims to provide support to our operations teams on the field by deploying quickly its key team members when a need has been identified. In order to be able to respond in an effective manner, the team has also to carry out in-depth analysis of strategy planning, programming and operations, as well as upgrading tools and processes.
Today we are looking for a motivated Flying Emergency Coordinator to join our Emergency Readiness & Response Unit of 10 team members, and deploy to the field during emergencies to support our operations teams. This is an excellent opportunity if you enjoy working in different functions, contexts and missions. There is no restrictions around the job location, and you will be able to either work from France under a permanent contract (CDI) or from anywhere else under an expatriate temporary and renewable contract (CDD).
As Flying Emergency Coordinator your main responsibility consists in deploying frequently to the field, in order to provide support to the operations teams during emergencies. Your versatile profile will enable you to undertake different positions in particular in management and coordination, such as Field Coordinator, Deputy Country Director, Country Director etc.. Similarly, in this position you will have the opportunity to intervene in very diverse contexts and culture; deployments are usually related to emergency responses for exploratory missions, natural disasters, conflicts, outbreaks, humanitarian assessments, base opening or closure. Beside deployments, you will also participate to other team projects and activities around to enhance our tools and processes.
VPlease note that this position requires a high degree of flexibility as you will be asked to constantly travel with little notice, often to insecure locations with sometimes non-optimal living conditions.
Other experience and skills required for this position include the following:
Advanced degree in International Humanitarian or development affairs or other related degrees
At least 5 years’ experience in humanitarian response, in particular in conflict countries across multiple regions
Proven track records in key leadership roles (such as Field Coordinator/Head of Base, Country Director, Emergency Coordinator, Emergency Team Leader, Deputy Director Programmes/Support, etc.)
Experience in managing security in highly volatile contexts with the ability to analyse risks and take effective decisions in situations of emergency/crisis
High adaptability skills; you feel comfortable in filling different roles in different contexts according to the needs of the situation
Excellent communication skills, diplomacy and negotiations skills
Excellent management skills, with the ability to guide and support your teams in their activities
Experience preferred in strategy development, leading emergency assessments, exploratory missions and/or mission/base start-up
Outstanding project management skills, great autonomy, ability to respect budget and timeline
Fluency in both English and French (written + verbal). Other languages such as Arabic, Portuguese or Spanish are a great asset.
Contract conditions for employee based in France:
Local grade: 6 – “Cadre autonome”, Full time permanent contract
39K to 48KEUR monthly gross on 13 months (according to the position incumbent’s experience)

Teleworking policy: The future employee will be eligible for our teleworking policy enabling to work from anywhere in French metropolitan region. The position of Emergency Coordinator does not require any mandatory working days in the office.
Contract conditions for employee based outside of France:
Temporary and renewable contract for 12 months (CDD)
Entry base salary of 2 450 to 2 800EUR gross per month
25 paid leaves and 20 RTT (additional leaves) per year
